Why 'Mama Bear'?

Mother bears are famous for protecting their young. They are born, helpless, in the safety and warmth of the winter den. She nurtures her cubs until the time is right to venture into the word. When they are ready she leads them safely from the den, she allows them to explore the world around them and chides them when they wander too far from their home. Mother bears teach their young how to survive in the harsh world around them.
Taking some cues from nature, I believe that parenting includes protecting our children. We need to take the time to allow them to explore Gods creation. To learn how to defend themselves and their faith. The world outside is an exciting and dangerous place. Our children need to be prepared and trained.
